Based on the recommendations of our Rules Committee, the BBSA Board has voted to approve the following rules changes starting with the 2026 Spring Season.

Association Rule Change:

  • Walk-up/Warm-Up/Between Innings Music
    • All music, including walk-up music, warm up music, and music between innings is not permitted. This applies to all baseball and softball teams playing at a BBSA event and/or Bethesda Park Baseball and Softball complex during the recreational season.

  • Playing time/time players sit rule
    • No player will sit on the bench during consecutive innings or twice in the first 3 innings. (exceptions include illness, injury, discipline, or other circumstances that have been communicated to the opposing manager)

Baseball Rule Changes:

All Baseball Leagues Rules:

  • Intentional Walks
    • BBSA does NOT allow intentional walks.

Tee-Ball Rules:

  • Game time
    • Game time will be 75 minutes (1hr 15min)

  • Strike Outs
    • Each batter will receive 3 pitches from the adult coach. If a fair ball is not produced in those three pitches, the batter will have 2 attempts with the ball placed on the tee.  If the batter swings, missing the ball or the tee completely on the 2nd attempt, they have struck out. If the batter hits the ball or the tee on the 2nd attempt and the ball does not reach fair territory, it is a foul ball and the batter continues until the ball reaches fair territory or they swing and miss on an attempt, thus being out.

Majors Rules:

  • Dropped 3rd Strike
    • The dropped third strike rule WILL apply. Batters can advance on a dropped 3rd strike if 1st base is unoccupied, and the ball is live.
